Spektr Did Holland (and Holland liked it)
Danish surf soundtrack rockers Spektr did a short tour in Holland from january 22 till 25.
On thursday January 22 Spektr played the Hall Of Fame in Tilburg. The show was confirmed only a week before the event so there was not much time to promote the show and few people showed up. Nevertheless the show was a good succes and the band had to play a couple of encores before leaving the stage. One of the peope who attended was a promoter from the Chinese MIDI festival who liked Spektr a lot and is now working to get them on the festival in Shanghai early May, so fingers crossed.
Friday january 23 Spektr played in Exit - Rotterdam on a party for the personel of the IFFR; the international Film Festival of Rotterdam. I can't imagine a more suitable band to play on a party like that. The place was fully packed and the filmfestival people loved the show. I lost my camera that night so no footage which is a shame...
Saturday January 24 Spektr played at the Yobsick festival in Bazart-the Hague which was a celebration of Paul Yobkiss's birthday. Apart from being one man band Yobkiss, Paul is also a member of Tocado Joy Division tribute band Fetish and the Antistrot art collective. Antistrot did a nice performance dressed up like panda bears and made a couple of murals in the club. Spektr played a nice set and was pleased to see that the electronic music fans digged their sound.
The last show on Sunday January 25 also was at Exit. We decided to put up an extra show since the party on friday was for invitees only. This was a good idea since a lot of Spektr fans who came from all over the country took their last chance to see the band on this tour and caused a record sale of Spektr merch this night.
Spektr will be back in Holland soon as part of a Euro tour on the end of May/June

Things that go bump in the night - live at Exit
De Deense surf soundtrack rockers van Spektr hebben tussen 22 en 25 january een korte tour in Nederland gedaan.
Op donderdag 22 januari speelde Spektr in de Hall of Fame in Tilburg. Deze show was pas een week vantevoren geconfirmeerd dus er was nauwelijks tijd om goed te promoten en daardoor waren er niet veel bezoekers komen opdagen. Maar de show was een succes en het publiek liet de band niet gaan zonder enkele toegiften te hebben gespeeld. Een van de mensen die bij het concert aanwezig was werkt als scout voor het Chinese MIDI festival dat dit jaar in Shanghai wordt georganiseerd. Deze man is inmiddels bezig om Spektr begin mei naar China te halen.
Vrijdag 23 januari speelde Spektr op het vrijwilligersfeest van het Rotterdamse Film Festival. Er is natuurlijk geen beter passende band denkbaar dan dit gezelschap om op een dergelijk feest te spelen. De zaal was afgeladen en de mensen van het filmfestival gingen compleet uit hun dak. Ik was mijn camera opeens kwijt dus helaas kon ik deze avond geen video's schieten.
Zaterdag 24 januari trad Spektr op het Yobsick festival in Bazart-Den Haag op. Dit festival was ter ere van de verjaardag van Paul Yobkiss Borchers. Paul is niet aleen actief als onemanband Yobkiss, maar is ook de drummer van Fetish en lid van het Antistrot kunst collectief. Antistrot pakte flink uit met een performance waarin de leden van het collectief als Panda Beren verkleed door de zaal huppelden en ze maakten ook nog een paar muurschilderingen in de zaal. Spektr speelde een toffe set en tot onze opluchting konden de aanwezige electronische muziek fans de organische sound van Spektr goed waarderen.
Op zondag 25 januari had Tocado een extra show voor Spektr in Exit georganiseerd omdat de show op vrijdag alleen voor genodigden toegankelijk was. Dat was een goed idee want hierdoor konden Spektr fans die niet alleen uit Rotterdam maar vanuit het hele land waren komen opdagen de band alsnog live zien spelen. Er werd danbook een record gebroken in de verkoop van Spektr cd's en lp's.
Spektr komt nog dit jaar terug om in Nederland te touren. Er staat en Euro tour gepland van eind Mei tot half juni.
