New Harry Merry releases
Harry Merry is working on a new album for quite some time now. Harry recorded new songs in various studios. He did a couple with Kramer in Florida and some with Tony Mc Adam in London. We have no track lists yet but Harry played a couple of new songs at recent performances.
The title of the album will be:
Orama-A-Delic-Palooza-O-Matic
Magic Monster records, a California based label that is somehow quite simular to this little label, will release the album in the USA. And that makes me think of picking things up for Harry here in Europe again. I'll let you know what happens.
Another US label called U-Lab recordings from Florida is planning a re-release of the First Contact album on both vinyl and CD. Harry is trying to get the original lacquers back from Olé records. That would be best since the original tapes were given to Olé records and they are not returned as of yet.
People keep asking me for the original album on vinyl but I'm out of stock, I never received more then 30 copies of the Olé-records release of First Contact. You may have heard the story already; the production plant that made the record went bankrupt while repressing the record after Olé-records sent most of the 500 copies made back since the albums they got delivered were bent. Strange thing is that fans all over the world keep finding copies of First Contact. Recently a friend of ours got a hold of 5 copies in New York of all places.
I'm working to get some good management and a booking-agent to go to work for Harry, that's the least I can do. Nothing's for certain yet, but I'd love to stay involved one way or another.
Harry Merry is al een tijdje bezig om opnames te maken voor een nieuw album. Harry heeft met Kramer in Florida en met Tony Mc Adam in Londen opnames gemaakt. Er is nog geen tracklist voor het album bekend en ook nog geen titel, maar Harry heeft tijdens recente optredens live al een paar nummers laten horen.
Magic Monster records uit Californie, dat ongeveer hetzelfde doet als dit label, zal het nieuwe Harry Merry album in de USA uitbrengen. Dat in gedachte zorgt dat het hier ook weer gaat kriebelen en wellicht zal Tocado het album in Europa uit gaan brengen. Ik houd jullie op de hoogte.
Een ander label uit Amerika is van plan om First Contact weer uit te brengen. En dat zowel op vinyl als op CD. Harry is bezig te proberen de originele lakkers van Olé records terug te krijgen. Het zou mooi zijn als dat lukt want de mastertapes zijn ook bij Olé terecht gekomen.
De vraag naar de First Contact LP blijft onverminderd hoog maar hij is bij mij stijf uitverkocht. Ik heb dan ook nooit meer dan 30 stuks van de LP ontvangen. Het verhaal zal bij velen van jullie wel bekend zijn; de fabriek die First Contact perste ging failliet nadat Olé records het grootste gedeelte van de geperste platen terug had gestuurd omdat ze krom waren. Het is echter wel vreemd dat fans van Harry overal ter wereld exemplaren van de LP blijven vinden. Pas geleden vond een vriend van ons nog 5 stuks in New York. Wat er nu precies is gebeurd met die Olé release van First Contact blijft vaag.
Ik probeer intussen een goed management en een boeker voor Harry te regelen, dat is het minste wat ik kan doen. Niets is nog zeker maar ik zou graag op één of andere manier bij Harry betrokken willen blijven.
