SPEkTR inhabit a sonic landscape ranging from creaky rock to dusty soundtracks and pompous vocal arrangements. The music sounds like the soundtrack of a life found on the other side of black and white TV screens; one minute you’re lying on the beach shaded by palm trees, the next minute you’re being chased through gloomy city streets.
SPEkTR have an unconventional approach to song writing. The eclectic sound universe stems from the wide ranging musical backgrounds of the band members. The music is created with an emphasis on atmosphere rather than genre. The band manages to enforce a strong and solid unity despite the diverse expression.

Manoj Ramdas, former guitarist of The Raveonettes and his Associates, collectively named SPEkTR,formed in Denmark 2001are emerging with new album entitled "B/w vs. Technicolour".
Recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark and Los Angeles, as a tribute to the lost art of 60's-70's soundtrack composing and the über-cool music from that aera. SPEkTR have written a pastiche-album.A "Retro-Nü-Soundtrack" f you like, containingoriginal material, composed, performed and produced by the band. ll inspired by the likes of Herrman, Mancini, Goldsmith, Morricone and performed with today's rock antics and attitude.
While the band constellation holds: guitar, bass, drums, percussion, organ, synths and sampler, additional sonic texture for the album was enquired by the usage of string-sections, brass ensembles, classical percussionists, girl choirs and various electronic gadgets.
Compositions like "Micro-Caine" and "The Bronson Beat" with their distinct 70's black-market Bollywood-rock feel, seem a perfect fit for aSteve McQueen or Bruce Lee movie never put into production! And while "Things that Go Bump in the Night"s manic pounding drummachinebeat and haunting harpsichord theme reminiscent, the stalking robot-gunslinger from "Westworld", "DropsO' Kurare" softly sedates and paralyzes with it's sweet and breezy guitarline, reverby bongos and polynesian-like chorus. The title track "B/w vs. Technicolour" raises all the demonic chills of a Leone/Morricone collaboration, with its stomping surf-marchintrobuildingtoa climaxthat descents into a romantic and lush end theme......A ride into the sunset
SPEkTR have toured Scandinavia and Europe extensively since 2001 and will be going on the road again early October for a few selected dates around europe.

Manoj Ramdas, de ex gitarist van The Raveonettes en zijn medewerkers, het collectief genaamd Spektr zijn in 2001 in Kopenhagen, Denemarken opgericht.
In 2002 bracht dit collectief, toen in een andere samenstelling, hun eerste cd genaamd The Microfilm album uit op het Deense Alternate label. Tocado-records bood na een tour van Spektr door Nederland, geregeld door WM music dat toentertijd het boekingskantoor van verschillende Tocado bands was, aan deze cd in Nederland te distribueren.
De tweede cd van Spektr genaamd B/W Vs Technicolor wordt in samenwerking met het Franse DV's records en Tocado-Records wereldwijd uitgebracht.
B/W Vs Technicolor is opgenomen in Kopenhagen en Los Angeles en is een ode aan de verloren kunst van het componeren van 60's en 70's soundtracks en de ubercoole muziek uit die tijd.
Spektr heeft een pastiche geschreven. Een retro-nu-soundtrack die origineel materiaal bevat datv is gecomponeerd, uitgevoerdc en geproduceerd is door de band zelf met als inspiratiebron de muziek van Hermann (componist van o.a.de soundtrack van Psycho en andere Hitchcock films), Mancine (The Pink Panther Theme), Goldsmith, Morricone (Once upon a time in the west, The Good the Bad and the Ugly etc.) uitgevoerd met de houding behorende bij de hedendaagse rockmuziek.
De band gebruikt gitaar, bas, drums, percuussie, orgel, synthesizers en samplers met aanvullend geluidsstructuren gemaakt door strijkers, blazers, klassiek geschoolde slagwerkers, zangeressen en electronische gadgets.
Composities als Micro-Caine en The Bronson Beat met hun overduidelijke Bollywood-rock gevoel passen perfect bij imaginaire Steve Mc Queen of Bruce Lee films, terwijl Things that go bump in the night met zijn manisch pompende drum computer en spookachtige harpsichord doet denke aan de geslepen robot-revolverheld uit Westworld. Drops O' Curare brengt je zachtjes in een verdoving en verlamming met zijn zoete gitaarklanken die als en zacht briesje in je oren zuchten, echoende bongos en polynesische refreinen. Het titelnummer B/W Vs Technicolor jaagt de rillingen door je ruggegraad zoals de samenwerking tussen Sergio Leone en Ennio Morricone ooit deed
Spektr heeft sinds 2001 meerdere malen door Europa getourd.
