Fetish

Fetish is a Joy Division tribute band consisting of 4 absolute JD worshippers. The music by Joy Division means a lot to us and this tribute is not about making money by copying a great band; Fetish only performs about two times a year and only on special occations and last but not least if our busy schedules with our own bands allow it.

Fetish first performance was on halloween night 2003 at Boogje 1 on a new wave festival called 'Neerslag'. The band wanted to point out to young wave/goth fans where the music they love came from. It was supposed to be a one time only thing but reactions were really great and it was so much fun to do the band decided to do more shows.

In july 2007 the Ro-town venue asked us to perform on a rock 'n roll highschool night. We first wanted to cancel since our drummer and guitar player were both abroad but Bruno convinced Leen he could play the music all by himself using loops and other effects. The result was amazing and ever since Fetish also plays as a duo sometimes.

Bruno Xero Xavier da Silva – bass/effects

Bruno is bassplayer/composer of Stöma, DooDoo’s Coffee, Dr. Schnitt, Bruno&Robin, ensemble residu and the Danish Wego project and the bassplayer of Harry Merry & the Must. He's also a member of the Antistrot art collective

Leen Steen – voice Leen is founder and manager of Tocado-records. Used to sing in hardcore/metal/punk bands like Into the Void, Persona Non Grata en No-Men.

Paul Borchers - drums started as drummer in a band from the Hague called Softposh and is a one man techno/electro band called Yobkiss. He's also a member of the Antistrot art collective

Frank Jonas – guitar guitar player with a.o. Frank Gones and the amazing problems and Benoît Martini band

Fetish is een Joy Division tribute band bestaande uit vier JD adepten. De muziek van Joy Division betekent veel voor ons. JD zet je een spiegel voor die je dwingt naar je eigen bestaan te kijken; hoe confronterend dat ook mag zijn.

De band :

Fetish speelde voor het eerst een set op het ‘neerslag’ festival in Boogje 1 in de nacht van 31 Oktober (Halloween) 2003. Dit optreden was eigenlijk bedoeld als een eenmalige aanvulling op dit gothic-new wave retro festival, maar werd zo enthousiast ontvangen en door de deelnemende muzikanten zo leuk gevonden om te doen dat men besloot vaker op te gaan treden. Op die manier doen we jaarlijks op speciale gelegenheden, en als onze drukke schema’s met andere bands/activiteiten het toelaten, enkele optredens.

In juli 2006 kreeg Fetish de kans om op een rock ’n roll highschool cover avond in Ro-town op te treden. Helaas was onze drummer op tournee in Japan en onze gitarist op vakantie. Bruno overuigde Leen van het feit dat hij met behulp van effecten en loops een geluid neer kon zetten dat Joy Division recht deed en zodoende trad Fetish in Ro-Town als twee mans formatie op. Het resultaat was overdonderend, de stad gonsde maanden later nog na over dit bijzondere optreden.

Sindsdien is Fetish ook als twee mans formatie te boeken.
